Grades 5-8 Begin Here

It's a great day to start

We're excited you're applying for the Middle School program (Grades 5-8) at Episcopal Day. At times, the school search and admissions process can be a little intimidating. However, you are not alone. We will walk through and explain each step along the way.

And if you need clarification, our admission team is available by email or phone at any time during your application process. Please call us with questions.

  • Step 1 - Create a profile on Ravenna

Ravenna is an easy-to-use, centralized application platform. A single point to complete all the steps below. Sign-up now, right here.
  • Step 2 - Register for a Middle School Virtual Information Session

Learn about our academic program directly from our Head of School, Division Directors, and current parents. Join us as they point out what makes our Middle School educational experience unique. Please note these sessions take place several times a month from September through January and are for parents and guardians only.
  • Step 3 - Register for a Episcopal Values, Diversity & Leadership virtual session

Episcopal school values are an appreciation and celebration of diverse backgrounds and cultures. For your greater understanding, we created this family-friendly session to show how our children's lives, education, and experiences are enhanced by this diversity.
We believe that a path to responsibility, purpose, and spirit starts with inquiry. So we ask you to bring your questions to us. You might have wondered; Do you only study Christianity? What is it like to go to Chapel? Do you have to be Episcopal to attend?
Chaplin Amber Evans and our Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Cheryl Adenekan look forward to answering these questions. And more are encouraged.
  • Step 4 - Open Houses

    All School Open House
Hear directly from our Head of School and Division Directors about Episcopal Day's commitment to illuminate a path of inquiry towards responsibility, purpose, and spirit. Teachers will share their curriculum highlights and their methods to inspire your child's mind.

    Middle School Open House
Hear from our Division Director and Middle School Teachers as they share their curriculum highlights and methods.
  • Step 5 - Apply

Complete the online application and submit the $100 non-refundable application fee.

    Your application must have:
    1. Submit a teacher recommendation.
    2. Your parent statement.
In this statement, you will describe a situation or moment in which you felt great pride in the person that your child has become or is becoming.
    3. Submit transcript
  • Step 6 - Proctored Writing Sample

We require a Proctored Writing Sample. This is a virtual activity on Zoom, which will be proctored by a member of the admission team. The Proctored Writing Sample will take fifteen to twenty minutes, but all students will be given up to thirty minutes to complete it. Students will receive specific instructions during their session regarding submission of their writing sample.

Please register your child for one Proctored Writing Sample session with any of the listed schools to which you are applying. Please do not register for a Proctored Writing Sample session at more than one school or for more than one session at the same school as we have limited spaces for all applicants.  Students may only take the Proctored Writing Sample one time.
  • Step 7 - Middle School Shadow Day

Applicants are required to attend our Middle School Shadow Day on December 11, 2021, to experience an afternoon as a mustang! Come meet our faculty, participate in interactive lessons, and experience life as an Episcopal Day student.
  • Step 8 - Decision Notification

Admission decisions will be released via Ravenna on March 17, 2022.
Application deadline: Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Please note that Episcopal Day is not requiring the ISEE for Middle School applicants for the 2021/2022 school year.
