Communications and Marketing Manager
SUMMARY
The Communications and Marketing Manager is a lead participant in creating and implementing strategic marketing initiatives to amplify the presence and brand of Episcopal Day to current and prospective families. As part of the Advancement Team, the Communications Manager works to strategically and effectively deliver clear, consistent, and timely communications to the internal school community as well as the wider external community. With the support of the Advancement Team, the Manager advances solid and clear communications via the school’s website, weekly newsletter, blog, and social media.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
School Website
-
Keep the website up to date and dynamic with fresh content, blogs, and photography

Oversee and manage all daily and longer-term aspects of the school’s internal and external website including upgrades, design, and content
-
Conduct regular audits of internal and external website content to ensure the information is current and accurate
-
Create effective website landing pages upon request for specific campaigns and events

Update website content including parent resource boards on a regular basis

Work with IT Manager on website integration with third-party API’s i.e. Vidigami
-
Provide regular updates including Google Analytics reports, traffic, and issues with any redirects
Weekly Parent e-Newsletter

Collect and distribute content from a variety of stakeholders via a weekly e-newsletter
-
Edit and adjust submitted content to meet school branding and communications guidelines
-
Minimize text and include eye-catching photography to optimize readability and open rates

Develop branded templates via Canva to display and share click-through information from the newsletter

Feature weekly or bi-monthly blogs from the school website that showcase classroom activities and school events
Admissions & Development Materials

Work with the Admissions team to develop and design materials for prospective and new families

Work with the Admissions team to advertise upcoming admissions events including open houses and shadow days

Work with the Development team to advertise upcoming events and design event materials
-
Take a leading role in the production of two annual publications; an annual report and a school magazine.
Social Media
-
Serve as the school’s social media leader, consistently generating content that positively and authentically represents the Episcopal Day community

Place social media ads for specific, targeted campaigns
-
Stay current on trends in social media; make suggestions to the Advancement Team for new ideas or platforms
-
Track performance metrics to assess traction and inform priorities
Photography and Video Production

Take photographs and videos regularly at events and around campus to capture academics, extra-curricular activities, athletics, and school events

Attend events to capture activities via photo and video

Consistently update photography on the school website and social media
-
Create video productions including short 30 second to 2 minute videos to showcase classroom activities or events via social media and the school blog
Other
-
Draft and edit school-wide emails on behalf of the Leadership Team and/or the Head of School regarding organizational announcements

Occasional evening and weekend work is required

Assist with school events including fundraisers and admissions events

Design event programs throughout the year including programs for our school productions and holiday performances

COMPETENCIES, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE
Required Technical Competencies

Excellent writing and editing skills, with proven ability to produce clear and engaging copy for various channels

Proficiency in website design and editing including Finalsite and Blackbaud or similar platforms

Strong skills in Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva

Proficiency in social media platforms and social media analytics

Proficiency in targeted social media advertising

Proficiency in Google Analytics

Strong copy-editing skills

Ability to maintain and enforce brand standards and guidelines

Required education and experience
-
Bachelor’s degree

Experience working in schools, non-profits, or other dynamic settings serving multiple constituents

Proficiency in the required competencies listed above
Preferred experience
Familiarity with Spanish/Mandarin language a plus
