A Warm Welcome!

A Warm Welcome!

Welcome to a new chapter at Episcopal Day School! We are thrilled to introduce Dr. Brandon Kraft as our new Associate Head of School for Academics.

We are confident that Dr. Kraft's leadership will enhance our academic programs and contribute to the growth and success of our students. His approach aligns perfectly with our school's mission to provide a challenging and nurturing educational experience.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Brandon Kraft to the Episcopal Day School community. We look forward to the positive impact he will have on our school and the bright future ahead under his academic leadership.

Brandon comes to us with exceptional educational experience and an infectious enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and creating in schools. He recently led “a school within a school” at the Spence School in New York City, as Director of the Ecology Program, a program that serves every student in the school and is a hub of innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum and pedagogy. Prior to this, Brandon taught science at Spence and in the AVID Program at Sequoia School District in Menlo Park.

Dr. Kraft served in various educational leadership roles, honing his skills in curriculum development, faculty support, and academic program management. His expertise will be instrumental in furthering our school's commitment to academic excellence and innovative learning approaches.

Brandon has had an immediate impact on the community since his arrival in July. One teacher shared, “He is action-oriented and is guiding us on a road where innovative teaching meets tradition.” Another noted, “He is transparent and has the gift of being confident and kind. He has a vision.” And perhaps one of our students said it best: “He has a strong vision for the learning in our classrooms. He has been to so many cool places and done such cool stuff!”

Indeed, Brandon has been to many places and done such cool stuff. He is the definition of a life-long learner, with an MEd in Independent School Leadership from Vanderbilt University, a PhD in Natural Resources from Cornell University, a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, and a BA from Boston University. In his early career, Brandon was a professional dancer; he enjoys rock climbing, hiking, reading gothic literature, and traveling.

In reflecting on his first few months, Brandon captured the core of Episcopal Day’s beauty: "From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt welcomed by the warm Episcopal Day family. I was impressed with the students' confidence, intelligence, and humor. I am so very excited to be a part this strong community of adults committed to student growth." That is Episcopal Day School in a nutshell. With Brandon as a partner in moving this extraordinary school forward, the possibilities for innovation and excellence in our academic program are boundless.
