Brown University Jabberwocks Visit Episcopal Day
From: January 18, 2024
Earlier this month, on Thursday, January 18, Episcopal Day School had the distinct honor of hosting the Brown University Jabberwocks, the oldest acapella group at Brown University. Our chapel space became the stage for a captivating and memorable performance for our entire school community. Students with a love for music were starry-eyed and gushed about the possibility of one day attending Brown themselves and coming back to sing for their community.
The Jabberwocks took the stage and treated the entire school to an extraordinary musical journey. From the timeless charm of Gene Wilder's "Pure Imagination" to the soulful notes of the Bee Gees' "How Deep is Your Love," the group's medley of songs was nothing short of enchanting.
The melodies resonated throughout the chapel, creating an atmosphere filled with inspiration and awe. Every student, teacher, and staff member in attendance was swept away by the harmonious blend of voices, a testament to the Jabberwocks' exceptional talent and the power of music to unite.
Following the performance, the chapel buzzed with excitement as students had the opportunity to meet the Jabberwocks up close. The exchange was not just musical; it was a chance for our students to connect with these accomplished artists, asking questions about their craft, musical inspirations, and the journeys that had brought them to Brown and subsequently to singing with the Jabberwocks.
Beyond being a musical event, the performance was also a celebration of artistic expression, creativity, and the joy of shared experiences reminding our students of all of the incredible adventures that might one day await them in the future.
As we reflect on this occasion, we extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. Eggert, our middle school music teacher, for orchestrating the performance and to the Brown University Jabberwocks for sharing their music with us.
