Inspired to Be - Crystel Patterson at EDS
On March 25, our lower schoolers gathered for a very special visit from Crystel Patterson, author of the Inspired to Be book series—and left feeling more seen, more heard, and more confident in who they are.
Crystel read one of her books aloud, shared her journey to becoming an author, and spoke about what inspired her to write stories that uplift and empower. Her message was clear: our students can be anything they dream to be.
The heart of the visit came when Crystel led students through a powerful affirmation activity. One by one, students who felt moved to speak stood up and declared who they are and who they want to be—using bold “I am” statements in front of their peers. “I am a leader.” “I am creative.” “I am strong.” The room lit up with courage, pride, and a deep sense of belonging.
This visit was more than a book reading—it was a reminder that our students are full of potential, and that their voices, dreams, and identities matter. No matter what they look like or where they come from, they are enough. And they are inspired to be.
We’re so grateful to Crystel Patterson for sharing her wisdom, her story, and her powerful work with us. Her visit left a lasting impression—and a room full of students feeling seen, heard, and inspired.
