Walking for Justice and Inclusion - 2024 Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day
On November 14, Episcopal Day School gathered at Central Park for our annual Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day, honoring the courage and legacy of Ruby Bridges, who at just six years old, became a symbol of resilience and change during the Civil Rights Movement.
This year was especially meaningful as it marked our first Ruby Bridges Chapel, where our new Director of DEIB, Roxy Nielsen, delivered an inspiring talk on the importance of equal access to opportunity. Her words encouraged reflection on our role in fostering inclusivity and justice within our school and beyond.
Days before and after the walk led by our incredible fifth graders, students, families, and faculty reflected on the ongoing work of justice, equity, and inclusion. The event was a powerful reminder of our commitment to creating a school environment where all feel seen, valued, and empowered.
Thank you to everyone who participated in this meaningful day! We look forward to continuing this tradition and strengthening our community’s dedication to equity and inclusion.
